Why does college have to be so expensive. I get that because it’s a “higher level of education” (even though half of my classes are taught by students) but if our country is going to stress how important that higher education is then it should work to make it more obtainable. Or at least educate kids earlier about college. I wish I had known before going into high school that getting good grades could open so many doors like acceptance into my dream schools or scholarships so I could afford those dream schools. I spent most of high school thinking that the information that taught us was completely pointless and there were things better worth my time, and I still agree with that, but had I put in just slightly more effort and made better grades then maybe I would be loving my freshman year rather than constantly wishing things were different. I know freshman year is huge transition which is why the road has been rocky but I also know in my heart that I’m not in my ideal place. College is supposed to be some of the best years of your life. So far I’ve been having a blast but I wish I could be going to a school I actually want to be at or living in a city I love rather than being somewhere that will suffice because I can’t afford to go out of state. Yes there are loans and financial aid but I’m not trying to be in debt until the day I die, I’m trying to get a degree for an affordable price and get out of this financial rut that was made for me.
